Born in 1945, John Leslie entered the adult entertainment industry back in the golden age of porn and has worked with some of the industry's most noted porn stars including Seka, Annette Haven, Christy Canyon, Veronica Hart and Traci Lords.
A one time bartender in the early 1970's in Michigan, John Leslie was also an accomplished vocalist and harmonica player for The Brooklyn Blues Busters. He mingled with some interesting jazz and blues artists and the group sometimes accompanied John Lee Hooker. The Brooklyn Blues Busters were also the backing band for popular Blues singer and songwriter Victoria Spivey for the Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival in 1973.
John Leslie's first porn movie was filmed in 1973 titled Sensuous Delights. He went on to perform in more than 300 adult movies, most dominantly in the 1980's until he began directing. Some of his best features, and movies he has also won awards for are Talk Dirty To Me (1980), Wicked Sensations (1981), Taboo 4 (1985) and Every Woman Has A Fantasy (1984).
His directorial debut was made with 1987's Nightshift Nurses, which he acted in and co-wrote as well. This initial exploration into the field of directing was a remarkable success earning John the 1987 AVN Award for Best Director. Encouraged, John Leslie went on to direct more than 120 adult movies including The Chameleon (1989), Curse of the Catwoman (1992), Drop Sex (1997) as well as his 'Fresh Meat' series of movies which have individually won several AVN awards. John is also a noted writer and has won two AVN Awards for Best Screenplay for Video for Catwoman (1989) and Best Screenplay (1995).
In 2007 John Leslie took Brianna Love from somewhat obscurity and directed her in the sex-drama film 'Brianna Love, Her Fine, Sexy Self'. The movie was a return for John to his preferred shooting style of the 'sex-drama' feature. A huge success, Brianna Love, Her Fine, Sexy Self flew off the shelves and was nominated for 7 AVN Awards in 2008, including Best Director for John Leslie.
In his spare time John enjoys being with his wife of 15 years and is an accomplished sketch artist. He also continues to enjoy playing the harmonica. His triumphant multi-award winning career, which includes inductions into the AVN, XRCO and Legends Of Erotica Halls of Fame, is very much alive and kicking, even at 64 years of age. John Leslie is still very active as an adult director and has already released 7 titles so far in 2009.
